Issues such as climate change, conflicts, pressures of life, the scarcity of resources, injustices in history of mankind and the pressure of managing the impact of fast growing technology, presents challenges as we attempt making sense of what is going on around us. We have seen these challenges having devastating impact in our lives.
However, there is so much wisdom in African philosophy of love to humanity, history, arts, culture and heritage that remain under researched, unknown and underutilised in the way we address our problems. To a large extent Africa has only been valued for its natural resources and remembered for the unfortunate events that have characterised its history, namely: stories of pain, suffering, slavery, and in some instances inadequate leadership. This does not inspire or give hope for a better future to young Africans and humanity. It undermines the dignity and pride inherent in resilient African communities.
It’s time to do it differently. It’s time to draw from the deep sense of Africa's humanity, cooperation, beautiful African success stories, creative arts and many other cultural heritages that restore the African humanity and sense of identity, dignity, and cooperation.
It’s in this spirit that rose the idea to create a humanitarian organisation that is inspired by African wisdom to respond to various crisis facing humanity. ACCIA is a call to cooperate, a call to develop, a call to make the world a better place. We cannot fix all problems of humanity (health, poverty, violent conflicts, natural disasters, and many more) but we can bring small contributions.
Thus, we use a multidisciplinary approach working with people from different fields, countries, race, religion, backgrounds in our endeavours to find solutions to community problems.
ACCIA (African Call for Cooperation and Integral Advancement) was registered in South Africa in 2017. Over the years ACCIA has been supporting various causes aligned with its objectives and developing intervention programmes. Today ACCIA is operational in South Africa, the DRC Congo and has established partnerships in different parts of the world.
We are forever open and willing to work with everyone interested in working with us. We are keen to share our experience and receiving support from all true friends of humanity.
Jean-Daniel Kabati
Director, ACCIA
